Aloyseum (St Aloysius College Museum)



Aloyseum (St Aloysius College Museum) is a small museum with a large eclectic collection which includes mounted skeletons of wild animals (tiger, panther, antelope and wild boar). You can also see animal bones, skin of animals, skulls and a clutch of ostrich eggs. The first generator which was used in the city of Mangalore is also seen here. There is a vast collection of vessels and utensils used by Mangaloreans in the past is also visible here.



In 1912: Fr. Chiappi brought the Minerals from Italy, the Herbarium, the Collection of Roman coins, the collection of commemorative medals and a part of the coins. All these were gift from the Collegio Vieta, Italy. In May 1955, Fr. A. Saldanha, Rector got the museum rearranged in the New Extension and immediately added to it the 2 beautiful life size statues of Ghandiji and Nehru- workmanship of Messers Simon & Co., Mangalore. The Museum was reopened to the Public on 27 Dec. 1955. In 1956: De Dion car was presented by P. F. X. Saldanha
